Is the word/phrase/description, etc "polyamorous" really just the PC, sugar-coated, or new age way of saying
"promiscuous"???

Re: Semantics
Thu, October 20, 2005 - 10:03 PMI don't know if that's quite it... On the surface polyamorous seems like it would be a "great equalizer" in the relationships between the sexes, I can't get over the feeling that some of the women are objectifying themselves. I never quite understood why in most poly groups the women seem to get "down" but the guys rarely to never do.
Back to the promiscuity question though, the above was sort of an aside... If you define promiscuous behavior as having very little discernment in sexual partners, I would say that that would hold true for most polyamorous people.
My biggest issue with polyamory is the practitioners seem to forget to be respectful of the monogamous lifestyle, more so than the fact that they want to sleep with everyone in their group.
Sorry for rambling...
